If you own a home and are experiencing financial hardship, this is where you want to be. We help homeowners just like you who are in danger of missing a mortgage payment for the first time, or who are already in foreclosure.
Our housing counselors can help you negotiate with your mortgage lender, or servicer, to prevent or resolve delinquency. This may include reinstatement options, modifying your loan so it’s affordable, or another workout plan. We’ll work with you to evaluate your financial situation and make an action plan to improve it.
We can also help you apply for special programs and financial assistance, such as the NC Foreclosure Prevention Fund (NCFPF). NCFPF helps North Carolina homeowners struggling to pay their mortgage due to job loss or other temporary financial hardships, such as divorce, illness or death of a co-borrower. Funds for this program are limited. The last day for application submission to North Carolina Housing Finance Agency is July 31, 2019, so act quickly. Learn more at NCForeclosurePrevention.gov.
