  1. What is Bull City Bucks?

    Bull City Bucks is a program that allows SNAP recipients to load money to purchase fruits and vegetables at Food Lion. Participants must be enrolled at a participating health center and can load $40 per month on their Food Lion MVP card to spend on fruits and vegetables.

  2. What are the requirements? How do I sign up?

  3. How do I load Bull City Bucks?

    You can load $40 in Bull City Bucks per month. Bull City Bucks are added to your Food Lion MVP account after your first SNAP EBT transaction each month.

  4. Do I have to buy a certain type of food to get Bull City Bucks?

    Any SNAP eligible purchase will allow you to load Bull City Bucks.

  5. What can I buy with my Bull City Bucks?

    You can only purchase fruits and vegetables with Bull City Bucks. In general, you can buy any fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables without any added salt, sugar, or fat. Please see FAQ #13 for more specific information about the items you can buy with Bull City Bucks.

  6. When can I start loading Bull City Bucks?

    You should be able to load and spend Bull City Bucks immediately after being enrolled at a participating health center or clinic.

  7. How do I spend Bull City Bucks?

    Once you have loaded $40 in Bull City Bucks during your first SNAP EBT transaction of the month, you can spend them by purchasing fruits and vegetables at Food Lion by using your Food Lion MVP card. The Bull City Bucks you have loaded will be used automatically to pay for any fruits and vegetables that you buy.

  8. How will I know when Bull City Bucks are spent?

    When Bull City Bucks are spent, the receipt will list “Bull City Bucks” and subtract the price of the fruit and vegetables on your receipt.

  9. How will I know how many Bull City Bucks I have?

    When Bull City Bucks are spent, your remaining balance of Bull City Bucks will show on your receipt. Please keep your receipt so you know how many Bull City Bucks you have to spend for next time.

  11. Can I check how many Bull City Bucks I have?

    Yes. Swipe your Food Lion MVP card at a cash register.

  12. If I don’t spend all my Bull City Bucks in one month, will they roll over into the next month?

    Yes. However, unspent Bull City Bucks will expire 60 days after the month in which they were loaded. In general, you have at least two months to spend Bull City Bucks.
