Durham Gets Grant to Combat Childhood Hunger Through Summer and After-School Meals

At the request of Mayor Schewel, Reinvestment Partners wrote two applications for the City of Durham to the National League of Cities (NLC), which awarded $125,000 on July 24 to assist Durham Public Schools ramp up its capacity to serve after-school and summer school meals. If successful, it will create a sustainable expansion of food services and local food purchases year after year. 

The award announcement was made at City Council and at the Governor's Mansion "No Kid Hungry" meeting.  In addition to assisting with the grant applications, Reinvestment Partners will also sit on the advisory panel for implementation of the awarded grant.
